Overview
Dual Lasers is the third map of The Cold Boot. The route is simple and generally easy for most people.
General Route
After circle jumping out of the elevator and wall strafing up the stairs, hop all the way to the door and go through. Shoot a portal on the wall near the ceiling laser receptacle, then place a portal on the wall that is a bit outside of the entrance door. Portal the laser that is top right of the exit door, then shoot a panel below where the camera is, which is to the top left of the exit door. Shoot a portal under the ceiling laser receptacle to perform Laser Switch Glitch, then fall through. Go to the exit door, hug against the door, and while doing so, shoot where you shot before for your first laser, and that will open the door up to let you finish the level.
Challenge Mode Specific
The challenge mode route doesn't differ to largely from the general route. Door activation is cycle based, hitting the door trigger as fast as possible is helpful for a more optimized time. Shoot a portal on the wall near the ceiling laser receptacle. Placing the portal low will result in lower time to place the floor portal before hitting the ground. Placing the portal high will result in higher time to place the floor portal before hitting the ground. Landing on the ground will result in a slower time, while falling through the portal can be tricky. You should ease into placing the portal lower on the wall. After you can consistently place the next portal above the door and one on the floor without hitting the ground lower the first wall portal more. The floor portal is very prone to sparking. Falling into the floor portal requires the player to hold their back key to prevent losing control forward. If you end up standing in the floor portal and not falling you are holding your back key to early. If you are constantly falling through and losing control you are holding your back key to late. After you have gone through the floor portal you will need to place the opposite portal on higher laser on the left. This portal can vary drastically and allows for your floor portal to not be directly under the receptacle. While placing this portal you want to be moving backwards towards the door. When you feel you are against the door you will perform a Laser Switch Glitch. You want to perform the switch glitch the instant you are against the door. You place your final portal on the wall opposite of the inactive laser receptacle. Lastly circle jump into the flags.
